Voluntary Guidelines for Labeling Caffeine-Containing Products
NPA's recommended labeling guidelines for products with caffeine was developed by the association's ComPLI Committee in response to public concern regarding the labeling of highly-caffeinated products, such as energy drinks. NPA has been in discussion with other industry associations regarding these labeling guidelines to offer an industry-wide response that is both responsible and proactive. NPA fully supports caffeine as a safe and legal dietary ingredient, but wanted to provide these guidelines to ensure that products are clearly labeled with the caffeine content so consumers can make informed decisions about the products they are purchasing.
