In response to the final FDA GMP rule published on June 25, 2007, the Natural Products Association is offering a one and a half day educational seminar event to discuss the impact and provisions of the final rule.
This important regulation establishes new stringent requirements for companies involved with the manufacturing, packaging, labeling and holding of dietary supplements. The FDA has started GMP inspections for companies with more than 20 FTE employees and has announced it will conduct over 200 inspections in their fiscal year 2009-2010. To help the industry understand the requirements, address compliance to the rule, and prepare for eventual regulatory inspections under the FDA GMPs, the Natural Products Association is offering an one and half day educational seminar event to discuss the impact and provisions of the final rule. Over 1,000 industry representatives have attended this popular seminar, exploring the challenges of the new regulation and gaining valuable insight on addressing compliance to the FDA GMPs.
The seminar presents comprehensive and concise discussion of many of the most complex aspects of the FDA cGMPs. The agenda focuses on areas of particular interest to FDA, including setting and confirming specifications for dietary ingredients, components and products, how suppliers are qualified, and criteria for using COAs to confirm raw material specifications. Other topics covered include testing requirements, laboratory operations, SOPs, records and other GMP documentation, master manufacturing and batch production records as well as a discussion of recent FDA GMP inspections and how to how to handle visits from FDA. The seminar will also cover GMP certification, a timely topic with FDA's focus on supplier qualification and the agency's positive remarks about third-party certification programs.
